This was our sixth Grayswood Open Gardens!

Many people helped with putting together a very successful day, particularly our wonderful garden and allotment owners, who have created such gorgeous displays, as well as the organisers and owners of the Classic Cars. We must also extend a big thank you to all our volunteers and generous sponsors, as well as our excellent organising team.

Going round the village there was plenty for our visitors to enjoy:

  • We had 12 gardens open, including 7 that hadn’t opened before

  • Eco activities in the Churchyard

  • Teas and homemade cakes

  • Plant stall

  • Classic Cars

  • Ice Creams

This fundraising event supported the fabric and grounds of our lovely Arts & Craft style church in Grayswood in the heart of our community.

It was such a lovely day. The weather was glorious, the gardens were tip top and our many visitors created a buzz throughout the village.

We raised £2,704 for All Saints Grayswood. Our fundraising will be going towards the new paths; work started at the end of July.

If you missed it, here are a selection of photos from the day. Open Gardens will be back in 2025.

Grayswood Open Gardens
13 June 2021

Having been postponed from June 2020, we were delighted that our Open Gardens event took place this year. We had a beautiful sunny day, showing off our lovely gardens at their very best.  The village was thronged with a record number of visitors, all enjoying the rare opportunity to get out and about.  For the village, it was truly memorable after such a difficult year with Covid 19. For many of us, it was the first opportunity to meet friends and neighbours for over a year.

The day was such a success that we even ran out of cake, tickets and programmes!

Our takings were just over £3000 - an amazing result and it will help us make a significant donation to the church clock appeal.

As our Chair, Emma Stopford said:

'On behalf of The Friends of All Saints Grayswood I would like to thank you for your part in the fantastic Grayswood Open Gardens 2021.  Your collective help and contributions, whether it was opening your beautiful gardens,  helping to direct visitors in the gardens, sharing your beautiful classic cars, baking cakes, nurturing and preparing plants and helping set up and man the stalls made it such a success.   I know a huge amount of time and effort went into making it a perfect day.  I am sure that everyone would like to thank Pauline Lamb and Janet Dallas for organising us all and making sure the event ran smoothly. Many others were helping behind the scenes and it isn’t possible to thank everyone individually, but it truly was a team effort!

It was wonderful to see so many visitors from the village and as far afield as London on such a sunny day .  We sold 391 tickets and there were many children too so we must have had well over 400 people enjoying a tour of the gardens, indulging in home made cakes and choosing plants to take home as a memento of the day. '

We look forward to our next Open Gardens event in 2023. In the meantime, please enjoy these gorgeous photos of the day, taken by Roberta Summerfield.
